Why I Started Ell-Kay Essentials

For years, my hair was a source of frustration, not joy.

No matter what I bought, no matter what I tried, the breakage kept coming. My hair was dry, brittle, and lifeless. I'd reach for product after product off the shelf, follow all the advice, and still watch strands snap away in my hands. Nothing stuck. Nothing worked.

What made it worse was not knowing why. I'd flip a bottle over and read an ingredient list I couldn't pronounce - full of fillers, chemicals, and things I'd never heard of. I was putting all of that on my hair and hoping for the best. That didn't sit right with me.

So I stopped buying and started making.

I went back to basics. I researched traditional herbal remedies — the ingredients that women have used for generations to grow strong, healthy hair. I started blending my own formulas, adjusting, testing, and paying close attention to what my hair actually responded to.

And then something shifted.

The breakage slowed. Then stopped. My hair started retaining length for the first time in years. It felt softer, stronger - alive again. My confidence came back with it.

I realised I couldn't keep this to myself.
